Check it out! Wildlife! there in the bottom corner. two ducks. a mallard? perhaps a wood duck. i can't tell. but it is the first real wildlife i have seen here. and i saw four ducks. on my hike i talked to some poeple who said they saw two red squirrels fighting over a nut. that would have been cool. maybe next time. i told them i wanted to see a porcupine, and they looked at me weird and said that porcupines don't live near here (even though the sign said that the wildlife here included porcupines) but if i ever was in porcupine country then i should stick my shoes outside and they would come and lick the salt from my shoes. they would also tear them to shreds. 
This is a bog. there are lots of bogs around. many roads and lots of timmins was built over bogs. part of the reason the roads and parking lots are so crappy here. so says an environmentalist that i met.
So, i have seen no (zero) carnivorous animals, but just as cool are carnivorous plants. This is a pitcher plant, named after its picturesk qualities. bugs are attracted to the colours and fall into the water that it holds and are unable to climb out and they are slowly digested in the water. perhaps there is some acid inside, i don't know, but i stuck my finger in the water and nothing happened. I stuck two of the plants next to each other to see if they would fight, but they didn't.
the forest is covered in moss. it is very springy to walk on.

On a side note, i saw more wildlife in the week i was home than my entire time in timmins. eg turtles 4, muskrates 3, ducks 5, etc.
